Content:

I will present two important evolution equations which attracted a lot of attention in recent years: the total variation flow and the mean curvature flow.
After an introduction on BV functions and sets of finite perimeter, I will discuss the main theoretical features of these evolutions, such as existence and properties of solutions, together with a few applications.

Prerequisites (recommended):

Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science.

Learning Outcomes:

After successful completion of the module, students will have a general knowledge of degenerate parabolic equation of second order, and possible applications.
